The Windy City BMW Car Club chapter held their third annual
"VintageFest" in northwestern Chicago Vernon Hills. It was
held at the ZF Industries facility parking lot on August 28th, 2005
and the weather was spectacular. There was a good showing of bimmers:
a 2002 group, four E12's including my M535i (all of us are members of the firstfives
E12 enthusiast's group), a few E24's and E28's, an E9 coupe, and
an 8-series (850i 6spd, very rare). Most of the day was spent
oggling cars and chatting. The door prizes were handed out later
in the afternoon (I won a license plate frame that is quite nice,
probably donated by Fields or Knauz BMW who were sponsors) and
the car show winners were announced. I'm sorry I don't remember
the 2002 winners, but the pre-war 328 took overall people's choice
and Bruce Bockelman's beautiful euro E28 M5 took best non-2002.
The E12's present are: my 1980 M535i (white, parked next to Bruce's
E28 M5), Andrew Anagnostopoulos white 528i, Gavin Gray's silver 528i,
and Luke Cholodecki's saphire blau E12 M535i. My friend Blake Bowen
is the owner of the black E28 M5 (his car is featured under the Friend's
Cars section of my website).
